SANTIAGO DE CUBA, December 8 through 10, 1989
The 2nd International Symposium on Social Communication was held in the city of Santiago de Cuba from December 8 through 10, 1989. The Symposium was attended by 236 scholars, 5 from other countries (Czechoslovakia (1), German Democratic Republic (1), USSR (1), Spain (1), Mexico (1)), and 231 Cuban specialists. One hundred and one papers were presented in this Symposium.
The opening lecture was given by Dr. José Antonio Portuondo, director of the Institute of Literature and Linguistics of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, Havana. The other lectures were delivered by Dr. Heinz J. Scholtz from the Wilhelm-Pieck University, Rostock, German Democratic Republic; Dr. Raúl Ávila from the Autonomous University of Mexico; and Dr. Eng. V. Chuchupal from the Computing Center of Moscow, attached to the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
